What was the wording in the quote?
Did it say "valid for 30 days" or did it says "current fees at this time which can change without notice".
Was there anything like that at all?
I would be interested to know if the experts have any ideas.
I had a look at my Alliance & Leicester terms and conditions last night and couldn't find anything specific but it all seemed to be sewn up in their favour.
My guess is that you don't have a leg to stand on unless it said it was valid for a particular length of time.
The price you got was the one that was correct at the time.0 -
Hi,
the original quote was dated 28th July 2004 and there is a statement "this statement is only valid for 14 days from 28th July 2004. If redemption is not made within this time, please call us on 0870 xx xxxx to request a revised quotation" ... The solicitor must have requested a revised quote as we didn't complete until 20th August. Looks like I've lost £100.....0 -
After a long chat with the A&L they accepted we were unfairly charged and refunded the £100....
Just gotta wait for the cheque now....
Still, I can't see how they justify £295 sealing fee, especially as the nationwide charge £0.....
