    The ones which have the provider's name after the SW bit;

    e.g. Scottish Widows Invesco Perpetual High Income

    Full list here;

    Yes. That is why its quite a good scheme. you can build a decent spread of funds with them and its one of the reasons why you pick the Personal pension over the stakeholder.

    I have a small unit linked and with profits SW pension. Performance has been poor on both and charges seem high by today's standards. Suggest you analyse charges and performance carefully and consider taking advice from an IFA. In 30/40 years time you will not enjoy being told well unfortunately you selected the wrong fund...

    Have you investigate switching to their modern PP?
    Trying to keep it simple...;)
  • that's great feed backs on my queries. many thanks.

    I would like to invest in PP about £7000 this year, what sort of funds would MSE fellows consider a better selection of funds out of SW?

    Depends on your risk profile and investment strategy you want to use. With pensions pre-retirement I use sector allocation adjusted to risk profile and tweaked to suit market conditions. You can hold 10 funds at any one time with SW and it makes sense to use the 10.

    Or you could just go random and hit hope.

    I am thinking of picking the following 10 funds for my PPP:

    SW Aberdeen UK Growth Pension Series 2
    SW Artemis UK Growth Pension Series 2
    SW Jupiter UK Growth Pension Series 2
    SW Schroder UK Equity Pension Series 2

    SW Schroder US Smaller Companies Pension Series 2
    SW Merrill Lynch Emerging Markets Pension Series 2
    SW Newton Oriental Pension Series 2

    SW Newton Higher Income Pension Series 2
    SW New Star UK Alpha Pension Series 2

    SW Fidelity European Pension Series 2

    To strat with, I will put £700 each initially, in total of £7000, then I am trying to put in about £70 each very month (about 700/mth) as long as I can afford them.

    is this a balanced porfolio at all? Appreciate for any suggestion on what sector I need to consider to make it a better portfolio.
