Depends what you mean by 'tokens' really - here are 3 examples:
1. Tokens for 2 for 1 entry to some attraction, or tokens to save towards cheap holidays etc, are only useful if you will use them for the purpose on them. Nothing to get excited about if they aren't for something you want.
2. However, other Money-Off Coupons (say, £1 off a magazine or 50p off cheese, for example) are very useful and IMHO that's what this thread is all about really (and what the Magazine coupon thread is all about too - link to that is in quoia's first Newspaper post every day). In Tesco, Asda and Waitrose they will accept some coupons like these WITHOUT you having to buy the product stated. It's their policy, it's OK and it's not illegal. So just collect a pile of MOCS (all different products) and you should be able to use them off your shopping - it depends on the store, but most will allow at least one, sometimes anything you have with a barcode! I always pay mostly in MOCS at Tesco, luckily one local store is v. coupon-friendly.
3. The Daily Mail Book token is used by some people in Supermarkets as it scans against any shopping, like the MOCS mentioned above - but IMHO it's not acceptable (was told by more than 1 Tesco Manager that they cannot redeem them, they shouldn't take any book tokens except the World Book Day £1 that'll be issued to children quite soon, they'll take that but you 'should' buy a book). So I don't abuse my local store with Dail Mail Book tokens now.
HTHPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
