The hunt for the best DVD rentals services

Hello moneysavers!
I came across a fine article about DVD rentals here:
http://uk.biz.yahoo.com/moneyweekly/latereturn.html

Now, I started to use Amazon ever since they open the service, as it is a perfect solution for me living in the sticks half an hour driving from the nearest town. I am using Amazon as they offer most of their catalog for rent and not just movies but documentary, music etc' which I rent more than just plain movies. For me it is working well enough at £8/month/4 titles. It takes only one day to get to me which is fine and never had any problems. Anyone found a better service ("better" not cheaper) ? I mean selection wise.
Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

    I have tried a fair few of these companies by way of their free trials, and I have to say that by far the best is screenselect. Huge dvd selection (including all documenteries/music etc...), fast turnaround of disks, competitive pricing and excellent support. Tremendous!!! :j

    I've got to agree that Screenselect are by far the best. I get more discs sent to me each week using their three disc service than I did on Lovefilms four disc option. And it's cheaper too.

    I think its a bit confusing for everyone when people say tesco's and sainsbury's etc when they are just selling a product not providing the service

    Tesco = Screenselect
    Sainsbury's = Lovefilm

    Do any of these DVD rental services rent Region 1 DVDs by any chance?

    I've tried quite a few of these myself and they've all been pretty rubbish so far and seem to specialise in taking your money and then not sending you films you really want to watch.

    I've tried...

    Amazon - started off good but then had very poor top title availability.

    Blockbuster - as above.

    MovieMine - sent me nothing but titles from the bottom of my wishlist - absolute rubbish.

    MyMovieStream - been with these guys for the past few weeks who actually seem pretty good so far with a good stock balance of titles.

    I've heard bad reports of ScreenSelect and lovefilm.
  • We had quite a few dvds go "missing" in the post due I think to the really obvious envelopes they use. Does anyone know of a company that uses envelopes that aren't marked all over with the companies name? Was quite happy with the service but fed up with having to fill in Royal Mail claim forms.

    MovieMine Use plain jiffy bags. Although I didn't fine their top title stock availability that good. They do do a first month special discount - so you could give them a try.
