Pension, savings and paying tax

Hello!

I'd appreciate any advice on the following situation.

I currently receive a pension at the rate of £433.30 gross per month.

It'd be a great help to know a few things...

Tax and Pension

After April 2008, with the new tax year, if my taxable income is within my personal allowance, I presume that I will not have to pay tax on the pension of £433.30 per month.

- Who do I contact to find out whether I should be classed as a non-tax payer?

- If this is the case, what do I need to do to make sure my pension provider doesn't take off tax?

Tax and savings

- Who do i need to contact/ what do I need to do to make sure that I don't get tax taken off any interest (current account or savings), if I am classed as a non-tax payer?

I greatly appreciated any advice or comments that anyone can give me.

Thank you.

what is you total gross income?

    i.e. private / occupational pension
    gross interest (excluding ISAs)
    state pension

    how old are you?

if your gross income is less than 5225 (this year ) or 5435 2008/9 then you should pay no tax.

you need to contact the HMRC if you tax code is incorrect.

if you are indeed a non taxpayer, the you need to fill in a R85 for each of your saving accounts so they can be paid gross of tax.
