hot wax versus strip wax

Ladies (and gents too I guess!) which one is more effective?
Hot wax (which I believe, sets) or strip wax which is taken off by fabric?
I'm not bothered about the pain as it's over pretty quickly, but I'm more interested in the difference of results...
I've only EVER had strip waxing... sometimes it can be RUBBISH!
how does the outcome of hot waxing compare?
thanks guys,
LP

By strip waxing do you mean the cold strips that are already waxed?
I have never got on with those - they just don't do the job. I hot wax - tub of wax approx £5, packet of strips and spatulas. Heat in microwave and off I go. I think I threw the first tub of wax away after a few years and there was still some left but it had gone a bit funny, so I wasn't bothered. I've had this current tub 6 years and it's still fine
So, fab results and very VERY cheap.
(I only do underarms and sometimes bikini line - not legs which accounts for my minimal usage)0 -
cold ones are good for little touch ups but the hot wax def has better resultsYes Your Dukeiness

thanks to both of you, and I agree, those pre waxed thingys aren't that good... however, I think I'm talking about something different... let me explain..
Strip waxing - lower leg - 15.00
hot waxing - lower leg - 25.00
I've read somewhere (but I'm not sure where) that strip waxing is the 'normal' kind of waxing i.e warm wax is applied and then removed with fabric strips. (this is what I usually have done).
hot waxing is apparently HOT wax put onto the skin, left to 'set' hard around the hairs and then removed without strips, on it's own.
can anyone clear this up for me???
I'm at work and don't want to look this up on the net!!! (no net access at home).
ta muchly!

Yep you are right.
Warm wax is what is usually used in salons. Its heated, applied with a spatula and taken off with a fabric strip.
Hot wax is different wax and is applied thickly and in small squares. Once 'set' the hot wax is peeled off and takes the hairs with it.
I found with hot wax it took the tiny little hairs as well and i found it less uncomfortable than warm wax.

oh jemima, thank you! I thought as much.
I've found that the strip waxing is okay, but not great results wise in intimate parts.
I think I will try hot wax this time even though it is more expensive!
So the hot wax is a better result?

I've found one in West London that's on the way home which is all good, but very expensive (Chiswick is expensive!!!).
Thanks for letting me know, Jamima, it's a real help! you're a star!

Hi
Another vote for hot wax. I wouldn't go to a salon now that used strip wax; especially for bikini area. The results are so much better and definitely worth paying a little extra. But I too had to search a bit to find a salon that didn't use strip. Aveda salons use the hot wax (well mine does!).
