Wage Reduction

I was wondering if anyone can offer any advice or experience?

My friend works for a large company that at the moment seems to be playing hardball and pushing people out. They have basically said they want to reduce their basic wage by a significant ammount. Is this allowed ? I was always of the understanding that they cannot reduce your basic salaried wage without your agreement ?

cheers !

    whats the contract say?
  • Hmmmm. You are right, they do need agreement first, but if they don't get it they can sack peeps and re-employ them on a new contract.

Not sure if this goes for TUPE only though.

Have a look at ACAS website (it's the .org one)- sure there is more on there regarding wage decreases.
