  • Jez - i think you shoudl congratulate yourself for getting to this point and feel better that it cant get worse from now on because you have started to regain control. Its a big scary step which most of us on here have taken so your in good company.

I woudl strongly advise contacting CCCS because they are totally brilliant, non judgemental and will have the legaliltys available to advise you excatly where you stand and the options open to you. I think because of the urgent nature of a lot of your creditors they woudl help you quickly too.

It may not be an easy road back BUT your on the road and thats what matters. As others have said nothing is more important than your health.

    Good Luck x
  • just remember .... your health is more important than bricks and mortar and money worries !! good luck paula x
  • Hi Jez,

Just wanted to add my support - well done for taking the first step.

You said that if you had to give up the house you would have to pay 6 months rent in advance. This might not be the case - if your wife's credit rating is pretty much ok she might be able to rent in her name.

Both me and my OH have a CCJ but we have always been ok renting and have never been asked for more than 1 month plus deposit of 1-1 and a half months and admin fees.

Best of luck getting it sorted.

Jez take the advice of the cccs, at the end of the day you are VERY VERY close to having this situation eneded, either via B/R or by a new payment plan. Please please please u need to detach yourself from the worry and the stress now before you loose the plot.
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!

    Hi Jez,

I think you would certainly benefit from having a telephone appointment with one of our mortgage counsellors who are specifically trained to deal with repossession.

With the situation being time critical, it's best to ring ASAP on 0800 138 1111. We'll be able to sum up your options regarding the house as well as looking at the best way to move forward with long-term options in clearing the debts you have.

All advice is free, impartial and confidential

    hi Jez,

How are you doing.....told you the cavalry would come running....

Think of every step you take in the right direction as being one that's taking you closer to your solution and peace of mind again.

It's great not having to worry about the postman...ours used to drive nuts by coming at different times in the morning...I'd go to the loo and have to panic about the post arriving when I was busy....

One thing about the post is that, bizarrely, it sometimes contained offers that helped me....as long as I had the full picture of what I had owing elsewhere
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007

Indeed Jez ring CCCS if they don't think they can help because of the time scale try some of the otheres National Debtline, Payplan etc they should be able to put you in touch with legal bods who may be able to stave off the reposession. Try the mortgage lenders and their solicitors again explaining you can catch up on the repayment plan and keep to it now that you have new jobs , ask to speak to someone at a high level of management who has the ability to actually make a decision, plead if you have to offer to pay their legal fees whatever it takes. But do make a realistic offer that you can stick to.
Get everything in order as soon as you can as time is of the essence here take a day off sick tomorrow if you need to and spend that time on the phone, phone local solicitors and see if any of them have specialists who can deal with repossesion if not they will surely be able to point you in the right direction, as I said The debt agencies may be able to provide someone who can do the work pro bono for you.
Just on the off chance half my family are lawyers but they are in South Wales , don't know if thats any use to you.

    Good luck and keep fighting.

Hi I saw your post on the house board and am glad you posted here too.

Keep on adding to your thread...advice and support will come from all different types of people who have been in similar situations.

You have had your LBM....but you have to act fast, with the advice from above, to salvage your situation. No more denial (and I mean that in a positive not critical way).

If you want to save the house, CCCS Mathew has given you a starting point.....please follow it through.

FWIW, We have been digging ourselves out of a six figure debt hole for 3 years (business debt). At the start (when we had our LBM) I doubted our ability to do it.....but if we didn't, we knew we could lose our house one day too.

Once you have taken the advice above and if reposession is delayed, please come back and post an SOA......It's all part of the DFW therapy process.

Managing what comes in and goes out, coping with reduced income crisis' and all the other stuff....this site is an eyeopener.

Please take care and good luck.

AMEX - £4,400 CCJ and charge on house - paying at £150 pm

I saw your post on another board and need your advice!!!

Hi Jez, I am truly sorry about your situation but you are in the right place - these debtfree guys are amazing and will help you.

Apologies for hijacking your post but need some advise from you regarding your AMEX debt.

I also owe AMEX £4,800 - initial debt was £3K and they have now put an interim charge on my property and are going for a final charging order and forced sale. How did your come about your debt and the £150 pcm - was that set by the courts or did you offer to pay that to their solicitors.

Have they added any interest on top of your original debt and are they still adding any more interest. Please any info or advice will be greatly appreciated.

The reason I am asking is because I am finally facing to this debt was thinking of offeriing £100 pcm and see if I can reduce the £1,500 extra charges.

    Thanks in advance Jez
