Is Slendertone a waste of money?

You know, the vibrating pads you stick on your tummy for 30mins a day and end up looking like elle mcpherson:D
I want to spend some of my Boots points and this caught my eye...wondered if any of you have seen it do what it says it does or whether it's a big pile of hype?
Thanks

I've not had a slendertone belt, but I believe they work in the same way as other systems. They don't actually vibrate, they send electrical impulses through the skin which makes muscles contract and relax which in order tones them up. For this purpose they're great! I used to have regular physiotherapy for a knee injury which meant I couldn't exercise so I was losing muscle. To help build the muscle up again the physio put me on a similar muscle toning machine.
As for whether or not they're any good, it all depends on what you want to achieve. The won't really help much in losing weight, you'll need to do physical exercise to burn calories etc for that. Once you've lost weight (if you need to!) then a slendertone can help to tone up muscles, but stomach crunches are a cheaper option!
The belts aren't an "easy" workout, ok so you don't get out of breath and sweaty, but your stomach muscles will still ache like you've been doing a few hundred stomach crunches!0 -

They won't work if you put them on, put your feet up, and scoff doughnuts at the same time.
I am sure they could be a benefit, as long as exercise and eating healthily is incorporated as well.A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0 -
Hi
The slendertone abdominal belt (£59.99) really does work:D - I use it every year for a couple of months before hitting the beach:p However, DO NOT WASTE your mony on the Bottom & thigh toning system (£100) this is a TOTAL WASTE of money...
The belt requires time however just like exercise as when you crank it right up it's difficult to do anything other than listen to music:o0 -
thats really useful to know tbh, cos they do look good to me, thanks for asking this xx0

I forgot to add, have a look and see if there are any similar systems around the same price that aren't just a belt. I have an older system which is just pads and straps which you can place on different muscle groups around the whole body. I think with mine you got 8 pads which means you can exercise up to 4 areas at once. With a belt or cycle short system you can only use it on the area it was designed for whereas with a pad system you can use it for legs, bum, stomach, arms, anywhere you want to tone up basically.0
