I wanna buy some nuts and seeds

I have started eating these gillian mcK packs of dried fruit, nuts and seeds. They are very nice and healthy, but at 99p a bag, which do not last me long, I would like to find some cheaper alternative.

Does anyone know of a good bulk supplier of such a thing?

You could try making your own?

Buy big bags of seeds/nuts from the supermarket or wholefood shop.

Toss in a little olive oil - should be *just* enough to coat, and season to taste (try different things - salt and pepper/ chili powder/ curry powder/ garlic salt/ nothing at all etc)

Fry in a frying pan for about 10/15 minutes until nicely browned (don't let them burn!) Or lay out in a baking sheet, and oven roast for 20 minutes or so, shaking every so often.

Let cool, mix with the dried fruit of your choice, and store in a airtight container til needed :)

I'm also a bit addicted to these:

though I hardly ever buy them when it's so quick/easy and cheap to make my own!

Thanks Chivas, although I was looking for something more similar to this...

With no flavours or oil on it.

I like the idea of buying the seperate ingredients, although I think the supermarket almonds/raisins/seeds are still quite dear, maybe the health shops are cheaper?

Julian Graves is good, if you have a branch near you. They sell all types of dried fruits, nuts and ready-mixed packs. They have regular special offers and occasionally "everything half price"!
I buy a selection of nuts and dried tropical fruits, mix with coconut and banana chips and make snack pots for DS to take to work, they definitely work out cheaper than bagged mixes.
"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.

    No worries :)

You can still buy the raw seeds, or toast them with no oil/flavour.

Not sure how they compare with supermarket prices but Holland and Barratt seem to do fairly decent sales every so often - often half price :)
