Having a look for a new Dell desktop for a friend and notice they do a D processor, what is it? Is it better or worse then a Pentium 4.
2p off is still 2p off!

Its a dual core processor, so is supposed to be vastly faster when multi-tasking (over a P4), and 'smoother' performance with single tasks.
Its not the best on offer for gaming machines, but for a general all-round system, it's a decent choice.0 -
Not to be confused with a Celeron D by the way- confusingly they're not dual core at all.
As ChillPill says, Pentium Ds are good for video/photoshop work etc. and should feel a bit smoother for general desktop work. Not so good for gaming- although if you're into gaming you shouldn't buy a Dell IMO.0
