I'm off today and am doing very, very little. I was going to go fishing but am going to give it a miss today. I am doing a double shift tomorrow and was knackered last Tuesday after going last Monday night. I will regret it tonight but won't tomorrow iyswim.
Onto the good stuff now. I 'm going to the bank later and I will be clearing my o/d. I have also got £100 in my £2 coin savings as well. Last week was a nightmare doing over 70 hours but it was worth it. This week will likely be the same. I hope to get a good wad away this week as well.
Just going to chill today. You back on the road?£2 coin/ £460 -
Hi BTM..yes I went back today ..thanks....I'm in a temp vehicle at the minute while "things" get sorted out.I'm waiting for the ball to start rolling properly......but I have a vehicle to work in...DH is going to do a few hours tonight....
Good news on your o/d and getting in front again.I do know what you mean re the fishing and like you say it's the right thing to do.
Good for you chilling out as you need to unwind after a long week..have a good day xx0 -
Did a few bits and bobs today. Went to the bank, post office and got a haircut. Might go out for a run with oh tonight. She is driving if we do go, the last place I want to sit in is a car but it will keep her happy.
I will be quite content to sit here posting inane drivel on several message boards tbh.
Good news about getting back on the road. When is the assesor looking at the car? Refuse his first offer out of hand. He will up it instantly by a few hundred. Reject that and tell him you will get back to him. Keep him waiting a few days he will likely call you.
You are in a good position here as you are still on the road. The last thing you want to do is leap into a hurried decision over the insurance or vehicle purchase. You will be able to claim back everything that you shelled out for that was connected to the accident. Make sure your solicitor is on the ball.
Sorry if it is telling you how to suck eggs. I don't know if you have been down this particular joyous road before:D£2 coin/ £460 -
Thanks for the advice...we haven't been down this road before so any advice is gratefully received.
This is the position so far as it stands(but stuff changes quickly)
Solicitors papers signed
Claims management team assigned
solicitor spoke to DH today to go through his injuries
solicitor spoke to me (regarding the car as it's in my name)
Direct line phoned up today admitting full liability and took solicitors details
Assessor(on my behalf contacted 19th june hasn't been out so far as far as I'm aware)
My insurance have been notified for information only purposes and don't need to be used as the other party have admitted full liability and I had a seperate legal expenses cover that covers all the losses so this is the policy being used.
I think it may be quite quick as DL(the other persons insurer) have now phoned twice!!!!....once the assessor/engineer has checked stuff I think we will be rolling.
Is there anything else that should be being done?0 -
Doctors for your oh. That is important. Again refuse their first offer on the injury claim. You seem to have everything pretty much up to speed. I would get onto DL and see who the assesor is. Get their number and contact them yourself. The wheel that squeaks gets greased first.
Next up I would get looking for a new motor tomorrow. I would prepare for the worst over the value of your car. I can see there probably being a significant shortfall in what you payed and what they offer. This is where the medical claim comes into play. Ideally you shouldn't be out of pocket but you probably will due to the mileage of the car and it's comparitively young age. It is a b*****d but there is not much that you can do about it.
You might get enough to clear the remaining finance. Then you could get a new one and start paying it again. I would probably do this if it was me.
That's the thing with taxing normal rules don't really apply when it comes to insurance. You shouldn't lose out in theory but in practise you do, down to the high mileage on comparitively new vehicles.
This is the worst possible scenario I am dealing in here but you should prepare yourself for it as assesors aren't known for their generosity. Good luck.
PS try parkers to see what the value of your vehicle is.£2 coin/ £460 -
Thanks BTM,
Forgot to say that DH went to the DRS friday and all is recorded.
The Assessor?engineer (who is coming out tomorrow) is from MY claims management company..so will be working in my favour..I have to phone him tomorrow after 9.30am to arrange what time he will be meeting me.
Will have a look at Parkers ..thanks!!!
Can I not sue them to put me back in the position I started in? ...I was told by vauxhall that a vehicle under 12 months old if written off ..is equivalent to a brand new model!!!!..so like for like YSWIM...
The situation is...I put £2000 deposit down on the car..leaving £10995 to pay....48 payments at £271.95...the car was registered 31st july 2007...so is under a year old.
If the car is wrote off the finance has to be paid ....which they should do(in theory) as the car no longer exists....then they should put £2000 deposit down then I pay the new 48 monthly payments.I think that is fair...as surely in some point of law they cannot leave us in a worse position financially as they are totally liable...if they don't do this I wish to take them to court and of course this is only relevant if it's a write off!!!!
Am I off the mark here?0 -
Not sure. Wait and see what the assesor says in the morning. I hope that this is the case but I think it is only the current value of the vehicle. The less than a year old bit does sound favourable though.
I had better head I am going back out to cover a shift £2 coin/ £460 -
Thanks BTM..hope you have a good shift and will keep you informed.0
