Facing Up to our Debts - at last

  • Thanks for that...

Today I have sent letters out to all other creditors which has made me feel as if we've started the long process...

However, could not quite believe the post today - a letter from one of the credit card companies we owe £8k to (although payments are up to date on this one currently, but we have been late in the past and the cards were on stop anyway) saying that,as a valued customer, hubbie has been pre-approved to apply for a loan - how much would he like?!!

Then I get a completely unsolicited text from Freedom Finance giving me details of a secured loan with no repayments for 5 months.

I know we got ourselves into this mess but, really, some of these companies just ask for it...

They make me so very angry Nalu. I think, as you well realise, that we are all valued customers where there's money and good interest for them to prey on. I suppose that's what it all amounts to, we're the prey and they are the predators! As Martin says on a piece of video here somewhere (can't think) they all get their training, but where's our customer/buying training. His words are far better than mine, but mine from memory sums it up a little.

Well done in getting those letters off, you're well on the way now, just keep looking to the future - not back at mistakes made, they won't help you but the future will..... given time and patience.

    So many good wishes, Sue.

Hi Luna. These companies make money on the interest we pay, valued customers (from a banks point of view) are those that only make minimum payments each month.
I would register with the mailing preference service to try and get rid of these offers for debt cards (thats what Martin says credit cards are and I couldn't agree more)
Put up your SOA so we can help as best we can, there are loads of money saving ideas on this site.
    Good luck
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
