Heeeelp!! Lost a much needed tax rebate cheque

Can anyone help? I finally got a desperately longed for cheque from the Inland Revenue and it went missing from my handbag, presumably stolen on the way to the bank, along with several credit cards, which I have managed to cancel.

Will they re-issue me a cheque?

Has anyone been in this situation before?

I was paying off my More card with it, I'm bugg%red if not.:o

Ring the tax office first thing tomorrow. They will cancel it and send you a replacement

They will check it hasn't been cashed then cancel it and should just send a replacement out

  • Ring the tax office up who issued the cheque, tell them the situation and get them to cancel the cheque immediately and they will reissue it. Obviously you reported it to the police so you would have a crime number if they need it.

Sorry to tag on to this thread but after searching it's about the closest I could come to my situation. I'm in the process of moving house and I've come across a cheque for a tax rebate from the inland revenue which was issued...wait for it... on 1st Jan 1999

So I'm asking if anybody knows if I can get this cheque re-issued or will they laugh in my face. :o

    Thanks for any replies
  • Give your local tax office a call - they would be able to tell you

  • All the dealings I have had have been very positive, I had a tax rebate lost in the post and they replaced within two hours of my call and I could pick it up from my local office. He if you dont ask you dont get!!

Thanks Saffronflowers. I gave them a call and they said to send back the cheque and they will re-issue another one.:T The girl said it could take up to 6 weeks though, but I'm not complaining.
