    You have the good wishes and thoughts of those on these forums with you. They know far more than most "helpful relatives"

    Others have already said this, but it bears repeating:

    Your relative was no doubt well meaning, but they are still talking absolute rubbish.

    Bailiffs do not call. Your house will not be stripped.

    Household items that you require for you reasonable domestic needs are legally exempt from being claimed, and the only other things they could possibly be interested in are high value items worth thousands. And there is not a chance in hell of the kids stuff being touched.

    The thought of bankruptcy is very scary, but nowadays it is a very civilised procedure. The Official Receiver/trustee has a duty of care to see that the reasonable domestic needs of you and your family are met and are not adversely effected.
