Well done on posting and welcome.I agree the shopping needs to come down and a spending diary set up.
I would get rid of the ASDA card first as you can bet that is charging the highest interest.
Maybe a bit less put away for christmas and birthdays and a little less pocket money can then make a serious overpayment towards something.
  • Hi, hope you are feeling better soon.
If you work for the NHS your pay should be the same even if off sick, you are still entitled to enhancements for unsocial hours etc through agenda for change.

I thought that moggitymog but because of the way I work my hours I have to submit my unsocial hours each week - when I went off sick I hadn't put in my hours for that week and possibly the week before as my head was wrecked! without checking my wage slip (which is in work!) I'm not sure what I've ben paid for and why there's a difference - If it's wrong at least should get it back anyway.

Well although I have struggled to focus today on sorting out March's finances it has not all been bad!
I have cleared out my freezer - it is amazing what i found i there!!!!
Written a menu plan of sorts
Written a shopping list - got a £10 off tesco online voucher through the door with the free paper today so will use that!
My ex offered to pay £120 towards the front door that i had to get replaced last week (he kicked it in after all so i don't feel the least bit guilty!)
and he also said he might try to pay something towards DD2's holiday (I know he hasn't actually done it but I nearly fell over at the offer!!!!)
An I worked out that although my wges were down because I am off sick I will save around £40 per week in traveling while off!
So I don't feel nearly so bad now!

Thanks for all your encouragement and support. The spending diary is a must as is reducing food budget - OS board here I come!

Have you started the spending diary yet?? mine was an absolute revelation and I have saved so much by keeping one (probably at least £200 by identifying money I was frittering away and a few hundred by questioning everything that I buy). You can make it as simple or as complicated as you like.

Mine is in excel and tracks the things that I used to fritter money on and tracks what percentage of my money goes on different things over the course of the year. Lots of people keep a paper one where they log every item but for me I need to track spending on eating out and clothes shopping - the former has a long way to come). I can send you mine if you want to see one in action (if you do then just pm me your email) it is pretty simple but works for me.

I'm sure many of you read my soa and think what exactly is her problem - and I would have done the same not so may years ago.

Not a chance, everyone is just thinking 'well done her for wanting to get this sorted out':T

    Hi Judi

Hope u r feeling a bit better! I'm sure march will be better than feb. Can't be much worse anyway. Coming on this forum has really helped me psycologically, knowing others are going through the same/worse is somehow comforting...

    Thanks Hell
My problem is my head not my lack of resources! Just could not see what to do today! I'm usually ok with working out what to pay etc but I just couldn't see what I was doing today!
Anyway seemed to get a bit of grip of the financail situation over the next coming month!
