Am RAGING at Barclaycard

 I moved a balance I think at the end of January. I set up a direct debit with the nice young chap on the phone (Johnny from Bangalore I think he said:rolleyes: ). Anyway, everything was fine until this morning when I got my very first statement from Barclaycard. It said I had a new transaction of £12 (which I didn't). So I read the statement in full and it said I failed to meet a payment in February so I will now revert to the standard variable rate of 14.9%. Am bloody well fuming at them...#

I tried calling twice but gave up after about 10 minutes. How dare they take 2.9% of my money to transfer and then have the cheek to revert me to standard variable.

Has this ever happened to anyone and is there any point in me trying to agrue with them? This has never happened to me before.

Did you make a payment in Feb then or not?
Was the direct debit taken out of your account?
As you know it usually takes time for a Dd to be set up.

  • Have looked and Feb payment not taken out so..... I have an exemplary credit history and it's very obviously been an timing overlap so I feel they've been a bit heavy handed. I have never not paid a credit card payment, never. I set up direct debits at the outset, as I did with this one. I think Barclaycard were hoping I am one with little choice and have to just accept their 14%. It's cost me £50 for nothing. Shower of wasters in my opinion.
