Can't help with debt management companies,
but i would do one or two things in your position, you say your car is HP and in someone elses, name, if you default will this not harm their credit rating, but this wasn't my point, if you return car / let them know you wish to end the agreement, would there be money to buy what we call a runner, (cheap car with years mot and six months tax)
We have done this loads of times dh works rurally and his last job meant we needed 2 cars! ususally we spent about £200-£300 and before you say it they all looked pretty reasonable too, and they were reliable this would free up £200/month, change phone and internet providers. Have you contacted hmrc and told them you can't afford the rate of repayment and it is causing financial hardship.what is hb repayment do the same? Food bill you can reduce it as you have said, everyone will get used to the lovely blue and white packaging. Do you have a garden? Grow your own veg if you do. Clothes - Charity shops are great, as are cut price sports shops for kids
You don't say that you have any arrears, if not yepit is workable and yep it will be tight, and probably for quite a while, but you are in good company. My finances are work in progress.Normal veiwing will resume shortly0 -
< I have tried to cut back but my efforts are in vain. Last week I went to Tescos and bought all there Value range and was very pleased at the saving, got hoe and no one will eat the food. >
If you want cheap then try Lidl or Aldi instead. Some of the more obviously german foodstuffs are cheaper in England than they are in Germany as they are regarded with a bit of suspicion by british shoppers. Try their Black Forest Smoked Ham, for instance, for about a quid.
I've also tried Value Range stuff from the big stores and am of the opinion even at those prices they don't give you "value". Is there any meat in those "value" sausages?

Sorry - we've never tried the value meat. Mostly because we're eating vegetarian/fish & also because we buy our meat (not for me) on offer or at Aldi.
Please don't confuse eating cheaply with eating rubbish. You can strike a balance. Eat well but cheap.0 -
Slight thread jack here, but i always notice people going on about the Money Saving Oldstyle board for recipes etc etc.
Well I have no debt and live with my parents still (i'm almost 24 now) and I have recently been looking on that board and some of the stuff i have made is great.
Just thought i would post how good that board is whether you have debt or not!

For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -

Dead right there. Most of the cheapest stuff in the Superstores is bearly adequate in terms of quality. Whether it be wine, beer, meat or cheese. Some of it is hardly consumable. But they still sell tons of it and make a mint. But as long as the shopping trolley is overflowing at the check-out and you can pay for it with a CC on the drip who complains!
Every little helps, eh!

We are not to bad because my OH works in Iceland, and so she gets 10% staff discount and first pick of the reduced items, I'm just after a nice roast, reduced from £5.99 - £2.00 and then 10% off, only thing is Iceland does sell alot of rubbish and doesn't have that good a selection compared to say TescosThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Just a thought, was the cccs contract in both names or just one! Was the cc issued to you both or just one? I would call CCCS again and see what they have to say. I know you weren't marched to the shops with the new cc - but my god what are mbna playing at - surely there is a clause somewhere about sending out cc unsolicited when customer is on a dmp and already defaulted. Get advice from CCCS, CAB, Payplan or National debtline. You were foolish but you can deal with it!
PS: Surely borrowing 10k of bil is actually just burying your head in the sand and not confronting the spending problem! Just putting off the inevitable??I stopped smoking 25th June 2007STILL Never complacent but confidentMy debt is GOING DOWN!!!!0 -

£10K would pay off the likes of tax credits etc, And we have had countless offers from creditors only looking a fraction of what we actually owe. I.E One credit card has a balance of £1200 they asked for £700, so there would be a savingThis is a system account and does not represent a real person.
