Clubcard Points V Airmiles

I have had my Tesco Cloubcard points converted to Airmiles for a few years now but I really dont know why!! I have exchanged some for Legoland Pass and had a couple of nights in snazzy hotel and a family trip on the London Eye, but thats about it.

I have been trying to work out if it would be better to get them back as clubcard points and use for offers, rather than converting to airmiles. I have had a good search and know I am a bit of a thicky, but really cant work out which would be best. I am more likely to use points for days out etc than for flights and hotels.

Please help me! Also, please feel free to move this to a better location if you see fit (thick newbie here - thats my excuse)...
If I had a pound for every...... oh sod it, if I just had a pound I'd be richer!

2.50 gives you 60miles new york costs 5000 airmiles so you would need £208 worth of clubcard points but if you were to convert your £208 into deals they are worth £832 so technically £832 for a ticket to new york I think you can get them a hell of a lot cheaper than that so on the basis of a ticket to new york its not worth doing airmiles sorry not looked into other destinations was looking for myself for the same reason as I have family out there but I think I may just do a flydrive with virgin instead
unless of course I am totally wrong but of course someone else here is bound to correct me if I am :D

I convert mine to airmiles,we dont have any cheap flights from Aberdeen to Manchester and we have a wedding to go to in August. For 700 airmiles each we can fly,the tickets usually cost from £170 to £240.With 6 of us going its a big saving. The airmiles site said including taxes.
  • Thanks for your replies.

I know I cant revert my airmiles back to clubcard points, (am going to look later to see if I can get myself a birthday treat of a spa break with them!), but I can stop them being converted to airmiles in the future and take them as clubcard vouchers/deals.

What I cant work out is that if..
    1 airmile = 7.8p
1 clubcard point used on deals = 4p

how many clubcard points = 1 airmile?

If it 1:1 then airmiles is a clear winner, if its 2:1 its still not a bad deal if airmiles do good bargains, but if its 3:1 or 4:1 then I am clearly not getting a good deal at all. I cant seem to find anywhere that states how many clubcard points = 1 mile.

    Hope I am making sense!

as I said in my other post 2.50 (250pts) is 60 airmiles 250/60 so its 4.16667pts for 1 mile to be exact ;):D

  • Ahha, I get it, thanks (needed complete breakdown to x points = 1 mile!):o

So - basically, I would be better off using clubcard points for clubcard deals then!

Phew! Knew I would get there in the end. Thanks for your help!
