Toucan bad credit scoring, can anyone help?

I received a bad credit score because Toucan said I did not pay a bill, it was for £7.30. They say that when I finished my contract with them, they sent a bill, I never received one though. My account was set up to be billed online, but they never sent one. I paid the bill straight away when Experian sent my credit report to me, but I am having trouble with Toucan sorting out my late payments, do they need proof of sending me the bills( a signature of receipt)? When I never received a bill online, is this a breach of contract with them? Do I have a right to talk to their credit control direct? Can someone advise me of what to do next please.
many thanks

Who are Toucan? Never heard of them....~What you send out comes back to thee thricefold!~~0 -
Toucan are a rival of BT and are part of IDT Europe(telecommunications)0

Just a few questions, you say that you were set up for online billing. Obviously you cancelled your contract with them and therefore expected a bill (a final bill) to be sent via Online Billing. Did you actually log into your account to check if you had a bill? If you did and there was no bill, did you send an 'online query' through your account management page to query the lack of final bill?
Also, were you set up to pay your bills by Direct Debit..just trying to get a feel of the situation so that I can help you.

I've just taken a look at the Toucan website...it appears you get a full account management page which you log into with your telephone number and password. Did you actually log into your acount when you were expecting your final bill.
It states there are various ways to pay your bill....I am assuming there would be the usual offerings of Direct Debit, Online Debit Card Payment options. If you were not set up for direct debit, you will have been able to log in to pay your final bill via your account page. If you are stating that you were not able to access your final bill....what steps did you take to sort this. Did you phone them? send them e-mail?~What you send out comes back to thee thricefold!~~0 -
I tried phoning them on several occassions, but the queuing system was soo long that after several attempts I stopped phoning them and waited for them to bill me , they were actually meant to email it.0

I know what you mean about the e-mailing...I have BT Online billing (also call18866) and when a bill is ready to be viewed online, I get an e-mail telling me to log into my account, I have a bill waiting.
If you didn't get a bill, did you check online yourself to see if you had a bill hon?~What you send out comes back to thee thricefold!~~0 -
No I presumed it was soo small that they were just closing it and hoping my business would go back to them, but what about proof of billing?0

Is there some way out of this?0

Is there a way out of this...
Essentially, no. When you paid the bill you effectively admitted the debt. You will find it virtually impossible now to challenge this debt. Sorry.
Get another copy of your credit report and ensure the debt is marked satisfied. Once this is done, if you ever need credit then automated systems will generally reject you so you will need to go face to face (or pay a higher APR).

There are ways of dealing with this, when you say "bad credit" what is on the files. missed payments, default ? It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them :rolleyes:0
