Sky TV

Well since coming onto this site I've gradually been pushing hubby to reduce our Sky package.

Anyway 2 weeks he agreed and we reduced our package from £41 per month to £19.50, £21 from September

I've read somewhere on this site that Sky is going to split this package into 'modules'....does anyone know of a link so I can get further info?

I wouldn't mind finding out about that too!

Trouble is that I don't think they'll split it in a way that will be best for us - I'd love to be able to get rid of all the rubbish channels and only pay for the ones we watch!

    This link might help.

There are more links in the article which explain the "mixes".

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for that izzit,

Just as I thought though - it doesn't work out better for us because we'd only get the channels we regularly watch if we get the whole lot, and we'd still have all the rubbish!

I've got a bee in my bonnet now!!! Why the hell can't they just let you choose the exact channels you want and charge you for them rather than forcing you to 'CHOOSE' stuff that you never ever watch????

Con artists!! It makes me want to cancel the whole bloody lot - probably won't though because we can't afford to go out!!!

i wish i could get hubby to cancel sky, but i have managed to cancel the home phone, stops you getting debt collectors and indian call centres ringing you up at all hours i'd rather have the internet you can only watch one channel at a time anyway and most of whats on sky is repeats from normal tv over and over again all i watch is sky news and the kids like the kiddies programes never mind.

Thanks for the link...that looks like another £1.50 saved then!

One question though, once this new system comes in does anyone know if Sky News will become unavailable if you don't chose the news package?

Worth thinking about freeview or the new freeview pay service which includes some of the channels. Don't miss sky one bit and enjoying the extra £20 a month saved more than the mindless channel hopping I used to do on Sky.

If you threaten to cancel you will get a nice discount for three months. If you cancel the sky subs there is plenty of stuff still available on the including three movie channels. Try it yourself - take the card out and see what you can get, there will also be others available with the card once the subs has been deactivated for subs.

Rafter....unfortunately we can't get freeview where we live although, living in wales we'll be the first to have the analogue signal turned off sometime next year. As a result (as I understand it) we will have access to freeview then.

As for cancelling sky completely.....will work on hubby with that one!

You could cancel sky and still get the Free-to-air / free-to-view channels through your dish for free.
