  • western promise - I'll try the MBNA net access at the weekend, cheers for the suggestion.
    .
  • Rochdale, I signed up for MBNA net access a few days ago. Its pretty good but also fairly basic (from what I saw). I searched around for special offers etc, but I couldnt see any, but that could obviously change from day to day. I havent checked it since.

One tip - if you havent yet signed up for it and are still planning to, have your last MBNA statement at the ready - one of the questions it asks during the sign up process is "what was the EXACT amount of your last bill?"

You can get the amount from MBNA (as I did) but you generally have to be in a queue for 15 mins...aarrrgghh

Still, at least its an 0800 number!

    Thanks purple green.

As I've had a ZERO balance on my MBNA card for over 6 months now, I haven't been sent any statements so I'll have to phone them up just to get my details etc to register for the online access.

Will give it a whirl on Saturday okay ?

    Thanks :)
    .
  • Yeah, you could do that - but my own instinct would be (and Im not saying this is necessarily right) to close down my MBNA account if the balance were zero and then reopen it in a couple of months time... that way, you'd get all your intro offers again. But let someone else advise you too, as I'm not always the best one to ask

Rochdale Guy sent me a PM and asked me to have a look at this thread. Having read it I'd like to say something.

I am sitting here with a huge smile on my face. I doubt there is anywhere else where you can get such good free advice about how to manage your debts. Most of what is said above is cutting edge advice. I don't think there is anything I disagree with. I hope no one finds this patronising, but well done MoneySavers, I am going to have to work very hard to stay a page ahead!

    Now Rochdale Guy.

    i) I am assuming you can't get any new cards. And in truth I think it's probably best for your credit score at the moment, to not apply for many more and have 'over-appications on your file

ii) This means we are left with your existing cards. You have almost finessed them down to the minimum - and are doing very well.

iii) The first thing as has correctly been said above is to find out from each existing card what rate you'd be charged for balance transfers - and if there is any room to move cash and fill up the credit cards on the cheapest rates.

iv) If you get offered short term cheaper rates (e.g 1.9% for 6 months) providing they dont have spending requirements (i spit on barclaycards offer to you) then be very careful only to move an amount of cash you KNOW you can pay off in that time - or you'll be giving up access to the LOB cash.

    v) if there is more room on the LOB cards then shift the cash from the higher LOB rates to the lower LOB rates.

vi) Prioritise paying off the higher rate cards first, pay min payments on all others - and whack as much as you can at the card you hold with the highest rate.

    Hope this helps

        :)

Hi all...!  True to my word...I have kept a beady eye out for more of those 0% forms and before getting mobbed by Barclays staff managed to get my hands on 8 app forms for you lot out there!

There are 3-4 left in the branch near to Target Roundabout towards Harrow, Middlesex.  (Dont know the road name).  Located inside on the left by the 2nd set of entrance doors.  Didnt think it was right to snaffle them all!   ;)

So once again, like in my previous post....if your keen...and have a good credit rating and are worthy for this form.......drop me an email.

The first 8 who are happy to send £1.50 to cover postage will have a form sent to them via recorded delivery.

The forms I believe are of the first type that came out.

In the terms and conditions section:  1.2.b.i
It states, transactions must be costing at least:
       £1.00 for Barclaycard Premiership
       £0.01 for BarclayCard Visa
    (  a penny!! ;D  )

When you fill out the app, you have a choice of which card to go for....

Please Subject line the email message " barclaycard % "

Anyone who can make me laugh will get put to the top of the list!!

    Sounds good to me!!   ::)

£1.50 , YOU MUST BE HAVING A LAUGH.
When I collected some of these for my friends on this site I posted them free in good spirit .
Why are you trying to make money out of the members !

I think thats a wee bit mean Mistral. £1.50 to cover the cost of recorded delivery for 8 forms is pretty reasonable. I would hate to see someone selling the forms - but after going out to find them - i think getting the expenses covered is very legit and it s a kind thing to do.

  • I beg to differ boss but that is £12 for 8 forms to be send out in total.
They do not need to be sent recorded delivery but can go by second class post @ a total cost of £1.60.
the posting does read " The first 8 who are happy to send £1.50 to cover postage will have a form sent to them via recorded delivery". Now to me this implies eight individual amounts perhaps the Author could clarify
Unless I am wrong this is a money saving profit to plasmaman of £10.40 .
Please feel free to correct these figures.
What I was trying to say is that I have sent out lots of forms some free and most just with second class stamps, for the benefit of members .
    I was trying to !!!!!! a conscience.
The mere Three that I obtained from my local branch had to be begged from their slimy grasps it was as if they were giving away their children !
At this rate I am feeling picked on if Galastonian had made such a comment would he have been bought up !
