For those that didn't see the news this week Toshiba are stopping production of HD DVD discs. It is the modern day Betamax. Blu Ray is the HD disc going forward hence the price slash. Still not a bad price for an upscaler though0

Interesting, but it does show that there are more Tosh bundles out there, besides the Play / Amazon 2+5 freebie one.

errm they only said they they THINK blu ray will win as they just got sole rights to disney or something, HD DVD will still carry on (for now) so its not totaly clear cut yet!0 -

Beg to differ, Toshiba are stopping making the players, DSGI (Dixons et al) are stopping selling them, Blockbuster are only going to offer Blu-Ray.
HD DVD is dead, Long live Blu-Ray.
Btw no bias here, I own neither.0 -

HD DVD is definitely dead. You might get a few more discs being released over the next few months but after that nothing.
Still, if you know that's the situation - it could still be a good deal. This offer alone means you're getting high def films at less than £10 with the player thrown in free. Good chance you'll be able to pick up some cheapo discs in the next few months and shops clear them out. You could build up a nice collection for a fraction of the price of getting into bluray. But, you are buying a failed format.0 -
I have not seen any sign of these cheapo HD DVD movies being sold off. Let me know when they are nathankw0
