We are unable to give advice on regulated areas (such as retirement planning) on the forum. It would breach FSA rules.

We can talk generics but we cannot say do it with xyz company or use abc funds. I fear that is what you are after.

How do you want to invest the money?
What investment experience do you have?
    What risk profile are you?
How much reliance will you have on this money in retirement (probably a lot as a you are self employed and wont get full state pensions).
What will be your likely income in retirement if you do nothing?
If you paid hte £300pm into a pension would it take you over the age allowance reduction point?
Is there a spouse or other financial dependents?
Are you looking for capital accumulation or income provision in retirement?

These are the sorts of things you need to consider if you plan to do it yourself and do it right.
