Vegetable chopper thing - can't remember the name!

Saw this particular chopper on one of the shopping channels, but can't remember the name. Looked a bit like a bench-mounted drill. It was a vertical column, and the required disk was placed on top, with a matching one on the 'lid' above it. The food was placed on the bottom disk then the user pulled on an lever on the side of the column to pull down the lid and chop the food. Anyone have a clue what this was called, and has anyone used it?

It sounds similar to something which used to be called the Combi Chef, but your description only semi-fits what I remember, so probably not the same thing.0

you do realise you'll spend more time cleaning it than it would have taken you to chop the item in the first place0

Why the OP wants it is his/her issue. Agreed about the time but gadgets can be useful for more than just time saving, such as uniformity of slicing/chopping for presentation purposes.0

This has been on shopping channels and is also available in Asda and probably other places that do JML stuff. My mum has one and it is very good, esy to use and to clean. If practice makes perfect, and nobody is perfect....................................
Why practice!:T0 -
I have seen something similar to what you have described, I think the one I saw was called a 'Nicer Dicer', a collegue of mine did buy one before xmas but have not had any feedback from them, will ask on monday and let you know. I think it was advertised for about £20.:j :j :j:A0

Sorry 'In it for a bargain' did not click on your link til after I had posted! I am still very new to this!!!!!!!!:j :j :j:A0

No, sorry, folks, it's not the Nicer Dicer. I don't think it's the Combi Chef either - I have a vague feeling that was similar to the Quattro thing on the JML site provided, a sort of manual food processor.
Agree with blacksheep - that's why I'm interested in this one. I do have an electric food processor, which is good, but it is a faff. The reason I was interested in this one is because you just change the disks and give the column a wipe-down.
This really is driving me nuts - I'd ring up the shopping channel, except I can't remember which one I saw it on either! And the maddening thing is that I know I wrote it down somewhere, but can I find it? I kind of think it had 'Magic' or 'Genie' or 'Wizard' in the name - doesn't narrow it down much, but one of those smartass marketing ploys. Definitely wasn't the Magic Bullet or similar electric food-processor type thing.0 -
I think I know what you mean - looked a bit like a one armed bandit? If that is the one, it was on QVC and I think it was an outlet hour the 2nd time I saw it, so its probably not going to be in stock again.

Yes, exactly. I actually did write the name down and found it (much cheaper, quelle surprise) on the web, so even though it's probably out of stock, I would probably be able to find it elsewhere - if I chad the name.
Thanks for this, though - I'll try ringing QVC and see if they know what it was.0 -

this is a MONEYSAVING site - now if I dissuaded someone from buying something that they would have only used once or twice it's worth saying.0
