The only people to benefit were the Labour Party in the form of good publicity. Just another smoke and mirrors exercise where no-one else really benefits.0

The poorest lose out on this one. Paying more income tax on their low wages. The middle earners just about make a tiny saving. And I mean tiny.0

I must have missed this! What changes?nothing to see here, move along...0

Would it not make more sense to raise the tax threshold so that you do not start paying until you are at least over the minimum wage? Then again what would those civil servants do who get you to fill in enormously long forms to try and get tax credits? Maybe I am being cynical0

From next April the standard rate of income tax will be reduced from 22p in the pound to 20p, but the 10p band will be scrapped. This means that most people on average wages will benefit a little, but the poorest, especially students, will lose. Pensioners are protected to some extent by a higher tax allowance.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -
Oh great so the poorest of society loose out again, but the rich gain a little again, whats new. Labour were meant to represent the working man/woman, and those vulnerable in society. New Labour represent liars, sleeze and those more fortunate in this world0

What sort of so called socialist party makes the poorest worse off? It might only be 50 or 70 quid a year but that is a lot if you are on a low income.:beer:0
