Advice on c.a.r.s please!!

i got a letter this morning saying they were taking further action to get the £20 i owe them, but i paid them late september/early october and have a payment id (paid online).
i called them and spoke to someone who spoke to me in the most patronising tone, who said lovefilm (who they're chasing the debt for) who said 2 discs have still not been recieved by them, only 1 had, (funny as i was only allowed 2 discs at a time!) when i definetely sent both discs back im sure of it!
anyway she said theres still £10 outstanding (why does the letter say £20 then i asked? 'as i just explained to you..' she replied in her patronising tone:rolleyes: ) and i need to talk to lovefilm! (erm what is the purpose of the debt being with you then? ) There is no record of my payment either:confused:
What do i do now? ( i hung up on her after telling her i did not appreciate being patronised and spoken to like i was an idiot)

I would write to carrs and request a signed copy of your credit agreement which will cost you a £1 and they won't be able to supply one with it being online. I had this about 2 years ago with Lovefilm they made out I had never cancelled the account and I had and let it buld to £70 and first I heard of it was from the lovely company of Carrs

Btw it never showed up on my credit history either in case you were worried!
  • thankyou, im assuming i send a postal order not cheque?
its really odd as i logged into my old account and theres no record of outstanding dvds!

postal order is extra hassle but definately worth it! Don't forget while you are there recorded delivery postage!
  • Thanks a lot, ill write the letter now and post it first thing! As they wont have a credit agreement does that mean they cant enforce the debt? Is there any more information on this anywhere? thankyou

They can't chase you for it so will revert back to Lovefilm, Lovefilm could then contact you, they never did for me, but if they do for you at least then you can raise the questions re discs going back and no outstanding charges showing etc
  • thankyou, ive already emailed lovefilm, hopefully they will email back soon.

    Same here... :D

I am being chased for £10 for a dvd 'supposedly' not received back to lovefilm. I know I sent it back last summer some time, around the time of the postal strikes, so tough, not my problem.

Christ, it must cost them more to chase the debt than the debt itself huh??

    Idiots. :rotfl:
