The base station for the one with 2 handsets is is 800mA 12v. Its a seperate transformer which plugs in to the base station, not built in. No figure printed on it for watts. Its the same for the other hand set. I had them together on the same extention lead to get my useage reading.
They must be about 7 years old.
12v 800mA means a maximum of 9.6 watts.*
* Before those who understand these things start chiming in, and without getting too technical it is 9.6 vA. The watts will always be less than that figure so I would have though a maximum of 9 watts!
So the two together accounts for your approx 20 watts.
Incidentally you are sure that you are measuring on the watts scale? - on my meter if you toggle(press repeatedly) the watts button you get watts and then vA0 -

Yes i'm using it right.
I just did upstairs and in my daughters bedroom she has a string of led lights which she got christmas 2006. Gues what, runs on a transformer eating 17 watts and she has had them on 24/7 for 14 months. So thats another 34 quid down the drain.
The hi fi's been on standby for 7 years. 35 watts makes 400 quid. Is there a filter on this site that stops you using swear words!0 -

A great deal of us do these days, so if I were you I certainly would. It's bound to save to pocket and the planet over a period.
Good luck.

It also meant they were visible and didn't always look good with cables dangling down, but it meant you didn't have to move the sofa to plug in the hoover as the socket was a few inches above the back of the sofa.
Hi Geordie_Joe
