Did I not watch a programme earlier this week (Dispatches) where they said these CDS were going to be a HUGE problem soon and that RBOS and HSBC were big holders? The guy (Jon Moulton) was so insightful.
I'm of the opinion that the "credit crunch" is nowhere near its peak yet and it's a correction that's long overdue, no matter how painful. I don't remember the exact £ but it was something like for every £1 borrowed we actually spend (not save, spend) something like £1.10 per head in the UK.
