  • Anyone know if both of these are compatible with the i pod touch?
    Thanks
  • I bought this from Amazon for my 2G Nano last month and it works well as a mic. If you want to connect a different mic its no problem. For the size and cost I think its good, but two points

    1. its fiddly if you want to listen to the recording played back - the onboard speaker is completely useless you simply can't hear anything via it. Remove the mic and connect your earbuds and its fine but you have to fiddle with a very small switch at the bottom to play back and then you'll likely forget to switch it back before making the next recording ;)

    2. while I think the quality is good for the price there's a fair amount of hiss to any recording. Students buy these for recording lectrures and I don't think they'd cut it in a large lecture hall but in a small room they're OK. Recording size is a little over 1Mb/min for the high quality setting. Can be quite useful for voice notes but it tends to split up the files so you end up with notes in lots of little files which are a pain to manage.

Integrates well with iTunes, your recordings are simply copied to the iTunes library but NB they aren't given a "Voice Memo" or similar genre and you have to add that yourself - again tiresome if you have a large library and have to search for the files.
