Lots of questions! CCA and other stuff..

I have quite a lot of questions. I am trying to sort out my finances. I was wondering whether to make an appointment at a CAB or can I go about this myself?
I will try and be a bit brief here:

2 x DCAs who havent complied with my requests for CCAs in the appropriate time - I have reported them to Trading Standards - heard nothing yet. I want the defaults removing from my credit file - how realistic a request is this?

Have had redemption figures from my mortgage co and a secured loan co. Have numerous queries about added charges and legal fees. As an example - the secured loan company took me to court for possession - I paid all the arrears in full so nothing happened but on the redemption breakdown there are nearly 3k in fees and charges. How can I test if this is correct?

Heres what it says:

court fees 150
legal fees 1316
default collection charges 490
solicitors charge (?) 82
loan co admin charge (?) 66
eastern counselling agency (?) 250
other fees and charges (???) 728

can i write to them to request the legal 'bill' or are there guidelines anywhere on these types of charges?

i'd like to add that this site has been a great help to me, i come on here most days and have managed to get a load of stuff i need. thanks a lot everyone.

Think you are stuck with the legal charges. Only hope is with the other debts and no CCA . Its said many times about secured loans , avoid like the mother in law !
  • isnt hindsight wonderful thing! its really really sickening when you finally sit down and add up all the money that goes towards.. well nothing really. I have no disposable income at the moment and its really getting me down. What these companies can get away with charging is ridiculous!

i am now seriously considering selling up and renting - all this stress to own nice home - its just not worth it! The secured loan was to try and modernise my property but theres still 10-12k worth of work to do...i could live in a comfortable place and be totally free of any debt - but of course I wouldn't own it and thats the stigma I suppose
  • Why are we British so obsessed with owning our own homes. I do so too, but the hassle is huge. If I rent (which I do now since seperating) then if a better job comes up, I can just hand my notice in and go. I'm lucky in that I'm a very good tenant, so will never have a struggle getting references. I know many who have now stopped owning and gone for renting. Looking at how much ownership costs, perhaps I'd be better in the long run just putting money into a savings account that would otherwise go on repairs etc.
    good luck though.
