Urgently need recipe for a 12" cake

Options
Hi all,

I've got into panic mode here!! Daughter's 4th birthday party on Saturday and i have promised to make the cake...she wants a butterfly cake, chocolate..so i went off and bought a 12" round cake tin to make it with, coloured royal icing and cake board....

Now all i need to find is a recipe for chocolate cake that will fill a 12"tin!!

Searched and searched....to no avail....:o so i'm hoping my tremendous fellow MSE-ers can help me with my dilema!!!!

Is there anyone out here that can pass on a recipe to me pleeeaassseeee!!!!!

I just double or even triple Delia's all-in-one sponge mix for quick b-day cakes, and huge traybakes to share with the class.
don't bother with the filling inthe recipe above.
    similar easy recipe at BeRo,
I put 1/2 the cake mix in the bottom of the tin, then add some cocoa powder to rest of mix, and pour it on top - voila marble cake.

make a quick buttercream icing, mocha icing is very nice, - jsut add some cocoa and coffee granules diluted in a drizzle of warm water or milk.

The Bero milk choc cake always disappears very fast. I use milk rather than evap in the recipe, and make it in a bigger tin, Just upscale the recipe proportionally to fit you 12" tin.

    good luck !

sorry for hijacking post, hope your cake cooked ok.
is it ok to scale up cakes then??
i need to make a novelty cake, it takes 4 pints of liquid. the first time i experimented was 1lb 3oz p/flour, 14 oz butter and sug, 7 eggs, 3 tspoons baking powder and vanilla. gas 4 for about 1.5 hrs . it tasted quite 'eggy' and doomed quite a bit in middle. did i have too much mix?? do you need to turn cakes, as mine was quite hard one side as the tin is different depths in places.
