hmmmm, what should i do?

hi, i'm in a bit of a quandry regarding money,
we have a lot of bills that need paying this month and not enough money to pay them
we need to pay:
natwest cc 88
npower 112
mint cc 16
mbna cc 85.16
virgin cc 131.35
vodafone 57
council tax 212 (its this much cos i havent paid it for a couple of months)
capital1 cc 40
mortgage 687
childcare 93

total 1521

the money i have to pay them with

my wages 750
money in bank 254
other halfs wages 90

total 1094

i also need to buy diesel and a little bit of shopping so that will probably be another 50 quid.
i have recently done a private job and am expecting £200 for that but the lady normally takes a couple of weeks to pay up.
i really dont know what to do, obviously the mortgage is the essential one and then probably the council tax but all the bills are pretty much final reminders. any ideas anyone?
cheers

If you are struggling month to month and are having to use credit lines every month to survive then your problem is quite long term and you could do with some professional impartial advice.

I would start with CCCS, Payplan or the National Debt Helpline, from the bit you have said it looks like you are paying everything you can and then not having enough left to live on and you need to readdress that balance.

The above are fantastic I think CCCS you could go online tonight and look at there site and see if there is something they can help you with. Also the National Debt Helpline have packs of information that you can download.

I have a feeling they will probably recommed a DMP as you have a mortgage and own your own property, but I am by no means no expert!
  • my other half has just started work this month so that will be an extra 400 per month which will bring us back on track and start to pay back our debt but its just going to take a few months for the extra money to syphon its way through but i'm just really at a loss as what to do in the short term. i don't want to go the dmp route because i know we can sort things out this year but the next few months are just really worrying me.

Hi sweetie, big hugs for you. - Believe me I've been there too, next your lightbulbs will all go... lol. I'm no expert, but would suggest mortgage, a bit of council tax (but not all, they can wait) then a couple of ccs. Dont worry someone who knows what they're talking about will be along soon.
    Take care

If its short term, could you ask your bank for an overdraft and then when your wife is paid you can start to pay it off,it might be cheaper than late payment fees.
