Off sick before leaving!!!!!

Hi everyone,
I am due to leave my current employer on the 29th February and start work elsewhere on the 3rd March. Therefore next week is my last week at work, unfortunately I have been called to hospital on Tuesday next week to have an operation. As a result I will be off sick fro Tuesday to Friday.
I am due to be paid on the 28th February and I know the wages have already been calculated and sent to India where they are processed (yes India!!!). Can the company stop my wages for being off sick, even though it is not my fault
Please help,
Richard:)

It depends on your contract.0

My contract states that I am entitled to be paid when off sick for up to 6 months.

Then I don't think they can stop your wages for that period, but you should be very careful to send in sick notes etc up to your leaving date.Signature removed for peace of mind0

....and if you are happy to do so, I would also send them a copy of the letter inviting you to your hospital appointment.
Having said that, you should have no problems at all getting paid sick leave for this period. I would sincerely hope that you are worrying for nothing!
(If you think about it, every employer is likely to have someone on genuine sick leave during their notice period. You are in the lucky position that you can 'prove' your sick leave is for a genuine reason. Your employer should simply sigh and get on with it!
) Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0
