I have read though that is cost quite a bit if you file for bankruptcy yourself - but what I don't understand is that if you need to file for it in the first place then you obviously don't have the money to pay for this? All very confusing.

I know. It is rather daft isn't it?

One of the most frequent questions on the bankruptcy forum here is "How do I raise the fees?".

But most people manage it. The most frequent way is to just stop paying any non-priority debts, which for some people can allow them to get them together quite quickly.

Sticking to the bankruptcy side, the judge/court will normally ask you if you had professional advice from somewhere like CCCS (or the other advice agencies in my signature) before they will grant the order.

So if you are even slightly considering it, then make sure you have a chat with an advisor. :)

Denerobt - there are SO many generous people on this site & I have only been a member for about an hour & a half and can not believe all the great advice I have been given.

Sarah especially has put my mind at ease & has now made me realise that there are things I can do. She is a super star! :j
