refund from catalogue???

i posted a thread last year about me having paid a catalogue debt for an ex boyfriend and how i couldnt keep up and having seen this board decided to write and explain how it wasnt my debt - this was done and they shut the account, but, ndr still havent returned the monies i have already paid - do you think i should pursue this or leave it because they have a couple of my own accounts on their books for catalogues they couldnt enforce without a cca...im trying to sort out all my debts and this was the only way forward for me - i got into quite a bad habit when i lost my mum and while i was caring for her and run up the catalogue debts....

any advice will be welcome - if you advise me to pursue for the money back anyone have a template letter i can use?

thanks so much

  • I tried this with Next - sent back a item and the couldn't locate it - funny, since their courier collected it. Spent a few months writting letters and eventually got a refund - I had to contact their customer services at least three times to get a refund. Keep at it, record all communication and send everything registered post and keep copies. And if you get a courier to collect - get all the paper work filled in correctly - the courier that collected our item didn't and it cost us a lot of time and money but i'm a persistent s*d and always try and get what is owed from companies.

Have you returned all the things brought from the catalogue though? They dont have to return anything unless they were at fault, your account, your responsiblity.

i dont think you understand my question - i paid about £300 on a debt an ex left behind when he moved out and i paid ndr at £10 a month - but, it wasnt my debt - do you think i should ask for it back?

Was the things ordered in your name- was it your catalogue? but stuff your boyfriend ordered in his own name.

It would be difficult to try & get a refund. How can you show it was you who made payments?

But certainly try asking & tell us what happens

In all honestly i dont think you have a cat in hells chance of getting any money back, Why should they give it back when they dont have their goods back? The only way you can realistically get some back is if you take your ex to a small claims court.

Its not the catalogues problem, they issued goods to you on your account, wether or not it was on the behalf of your ex is irrelevant.

I would take it as a lesson learnt for the future.
