Reply from welcome re mis-sold insurance....

Well, we got a reply from welcome finance in regards to our complaint about the ppi. They wont accept that it was mis-sold because hubby signed the contract with the ppi box ticked. They completely ignored the fact that we were actually complaining because my hubby was told if he didn't take the insurance out he would not get the loan! The also said it isnt a case of mis-selling as hubby was in full time work at the time and was eligible to claim if he found himself out of work, however I was under the impression it was mis-sold as he was practically blackmailed into taking the insurance out!

I guess we will have to let it be now. P*ssed off though as we know we've been done over, however we cant really prove it. And the insurance charges are a killer too!

Not having a great day (week actually!) with creditors. We seem to be fighting a losing battle with them all (claiming back mis-sold insurances, asking for cca's etc).

Oh well. Hope everyone else is having a better week than me! :rotfl:

Time to take it to the Ombudsman, see Martin's article:

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#reclaim

Step 2 If not happy, tell it you’ll go to the Ombudsman

At this point, hopefully you will have received a satisfactory settlement offer. However, don't expect it and don't be surprised if it writes back saying something like "we sent you all the documentation." You are asking for cash back, if it can fob you off with an easy answer it will.

So if you get a no, it’s time to get a little bit more militant. Send a simple letter that encloses a copy of your first letter indicating that you’re not happy and would like them to look again at the case. You can also say that if it doesn’t agree then you will make a formal complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service or other relevant trade association.

I had PPI with Welcome and to cancel it you just write in stating that you wish the PPI to be cancelled, that should sort out the killer insurance charges. When I tried to claim when off work I was told that my illness was excluded, so I cancelled it.

Did you also reclaim all the money that you had paid for insurance that would not pay out when you were ill?

If not, get over to the forum linked above and start your reclaim.

Hiya - this is a standard reply. Refer it to the ombudsman - we have and there are long delays in dealing with the cases but doesnt cost anythig so you have nothing to lose :)

No, not a penny back. I was off work with depression and was told it wasnt an illness recognised by their insurance and with loads of other things going on it just didnt occur to me. Will take a look, thanks!
