Hi N9eav,
If you toss them in flour before adding to the mix they tend not to sink to the bottom.

What Pink said - it also helps if you rinse off the syrup first, and then dry.

Maybe the cake mixture is a bit too soft?"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Something else I always wonder is, if I throw the cherries on the top of the cake, instead of mixing them in, would they just sink into the cake mix a bit, or would they sink right down?"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I use this recipe from Delia Online Old-fashioned Cherry Cake and the cherries remain suspended in the cake. I am quite bad at baking cakes but i can make this one, it's very tastyCross Stitch Cafe Member No1WIP: Cross Stitch: - Crochet:0

I suppose you could put half of the cake mix in the tin then mix the cherries in the remaining half and add on top0

Mayeb slow cooked cakes are better for suspending fruit as opposed to high temp buns or victoria sandwich.
