  • Hi,

I noticed that your pet insurance is high, I have two collies and pay 20pound a month pet insurance as generally if you insure one there is a discount for the second dog.
  • hi cherryredhat

who is that with? I am currently insured with tesco
  • Hi RAS

the CCCS talk about unsecured debts mostly are they going to be able to help me with the secured debt too?

I will fill in their details I will also call them tomorrow to see a councillor but they seem to take the same approach as payplan did.
  • Hello smallperson,

Just found your post and have read it with interest.

I had a company car for many years. The extra tax you pay is a % of the value of the car, so if you choose a huge fancy mega-bucks motor it will cost you more than a Fiesta / Focus / Astra etc.

Yes, it does cost more in tax (though not by that much) but bear in mind you have to pay no car tax no tyres, no servicing, no MOT's,no maintenance etc etc.

At the time I had a company car I was on 25k and I think it cost me an extra £25 (ish) a month out of my pay, which is a steal really. (I had a Ford Focus diesel)

I hope this helps - I have details of the proper tax calculation somewhere:rotfl: if I can find it later I will post for you.

Good luck and keep your chin up - you have a baby on the way which is sooooo exiting for you both so be a happy mummy and daddy :D you baby won't mind you being a bit skint x x

  • Thanks freerange, your post has actually made me cry, god I am so stressed and emotional today your words have been so kind. I will try and keep my chin up. I have completed the form on the CCCS website and I have to call them so will do that tomorrow I feel exhausted today.

Re the company car, we dont have flash cars on the list thankfully so even knowing what you paid that is cheaper than my current insurance cost. I am going to get a fiesta or focus but am going to sort that once I am back from my 6wks mat leave.

    Thanks again for your posting.
  • Oh dear, I hope it was good tears not bad ones. I haven't been using these forums that long myself but it's amazing how much support you can get from a bunch of people you don't know!

Just knowing that there are others out there who have been as reckless as me with money has helped - like you said early on in this thread it is embarrasing but knowing that others are in the same boat does make it a litle easier.

    Keep smiling:D

Time and again I hear of people that end up on long term (very long term) payment plans or IVAs yet never seem to get out of the debt spiral.

If it were me I would go bankcrupt and be done with it, then rebuild.
