Laws regarding sales of Paracetamol and Ibuprofen??

I think it's just a guideline, by getting lots of shops to reinforce the idea it gets into our heads and stops being the easy way to go.

From the information I've found, that's not right at all.

By law shops are allowed to sell packs of 16, pharmacies are allowed to sell packs of 32. There is no legal limit on the amount of packs that you can buy, although it seems that shops have been advised not to sell more that two packs.

I still think that I should have been able to buy as many packs of Ibuprofen as I liked, since there are no laws governing this.

That achieves nothing though. Unless it has reduced the overall suicide rate it just shifts the problem.

but it does make a difference - it really does! for a lot of people, a suicide attempt can be a reaction to a situation there and then. having to go around to multiple shops gives the time to think about it and back down.

suicide is a problem and this change in the law can help save lives. it may be inconvenient to not be able to stock up 5 years' worth of drugs in one go, but suicide is not something that people should be so flippant about......

Where I work, our policy states that we're only allowed to sell three packs of painkillers at a time. We've also been told it's because of the law.

Perhaps it's a policy to save the NHS money when treating paracetomol suicides during their slow, miserable death from organ failure.

I work in a pharmacy and we are allowed to sell 16 paracetamol if the pharmacist is off the premises/at lunch e.t.c but can sell 32 if the pharmacist is present. If people request anymore than 32 we have to refer the customer to the pharmacist who sometimes sells 2 boxes of 32. Apparently, so I've been told, a pharmacist can if they wanted to sell 3 x 32.

I find the law about Paracetamol absolutely crazy!......The other day, me and my partner went to the chemist to buy some paracetamol....we werent allowed any. Why?? Because the Chemist was on his lunch!!..."But we can go round the corner to Costcutter and buy them there and they dont have a chemist at all".......The assistant said, "Yep...we know. Stupid law" LOL
