Sharing a good thing - an inspiration moment

It not often you see many good news stories on this forum, so I thought I'd share my days events so far. Wrote a cheque to mostly clear my Sainsbury's Bank loan and contacted Black Horse Ltd for a settlement fee and found out it was much lower than I thought (£412 but on 0%).

I know it goes against the grain not to pay-off 0% deals but I decided to pay it off as I have saved enough over the last few months and I need to see some reduction in the number of direct debits going out of my account. Expecting a hefty council tax bill this year - as we all are  .

Only leaves a Nat West c/c at £2800 to go (0% until Spetember - but will shift about £700 by then and transfer debt to another 0%) and Amex (I use this rather than a debit card to get cashback - so its my normal monthly spending). No overdrafts to clear nor will I go overdrawn by paying off these debts.

  • Well done:j
It may not be DFW to clear 0% deals, but if it gives you a boost, & makes day to day living a bit easier, why not
Comping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

  • Yes, that is good news well done. I have paid off my suite this week which was on a 0% deal and i know exactly what your are saying with regards to freeing up direct debits on accounts. It makes you feel better to have taken some off.
Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:
  • Also, counted up my spare change jar (but forgot to bank it today) - around £40 - but spent £15 in a second's shop - but got all of this years birthday cards, mum's and dad's day cards for children and grandparents plus three plants for £3...one is a recurrent bush - so I'll be making my own jam and jelly next year hopefully.

  • Whilst I disagree that there aren't many good news stories on this forum (I think this site is full of success stories) I just wanted to say well done.
