    I just emailed argos:

    Dear ARGOS
I write to make a complain about your reservation service and in partiuclar polular items such as the wii Fit. I have tried endlessley to obtain a wii fit with no success and I even looked on ebay. However, I was most annoyed to see so very many reservation numbers being sold on ebay for approx £5 each. The same thing was happenning at Xmas in realtion to Nintendo Ds's. I think you need to monitor your reservation system more as people are profiting off of it and your genuine customers are unable to get the products they want too. Please email me on or call me on to discuss this. Thank you

They get a sale regardless, I'm not sure they'll care to be honest. Sure you may get a We'll look in to it email, but nothing will be done. They have profits to make and they won't do that by restricting people to one unit a trip/ store / card.

Being perfectly honest if I was an Argos shareholder, (although I'm not), I'd have more of an issue if they did restrict it, there potentially losing sales by limiting reservations.

How can Argos distinguish between what is a genuine paying customer and that of someone who wants to make all the reservations only to place them on ebay.
In the store i work all reservations that were made one after the other were to be cancelled by management and then placed on what we call SOB. The only downside to this is other stores cannot see if you have any in stock, genuine customers trying to obtain via internet or phone cannot see that you have any in stock and if you pay via the quick pay it will state that there are none in stock.
Like i say very difficult to distinguish between real and false. Plus most retailers sell out of such items very quickly. Unfortunately there are rogues who try to make a profit out of popular items.
Anyone who makes a purchase of a reservation number from ebay are taking a huge risk as like i say most of these numbers were cancelled in store.
Although i do feel for those that try and try to get the itmes, but if nintendo rush them out like they did the pink ds then they will find a lot of them faulty aswell as theyu did with the ds`s. Hope you get sorted with one tho

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Not anymore they arent!!

That idiot who is selling the reservation numbers on ebay for £4.99 has probably reserved them!!! Whoever that idiot is should be thoroghly ashamed of themselves as they really are low life. Argos should stop the reservation policy in circusmtances such as this
Sorry, but still in stock Watford - Waterfields, as we speak....

Its definitely not illegal, but isn't official

Very Very grey area and it probably is illegal...

Datel have always been on the grey side. Are they illegal, maybe. They are not authorised by Nintendo and usually probably have involved some reverse enginering to make them work, which is prohibited by Nintendo's T&C.

Also Games are sold into a terretory and may be illegal to be sold for consumption outside that terretory. Tesco lost a case where they were selling Levi's destined for outside the EU within the EU, and the result was they were treated as effectivly selling "fakes" from a point of view of copyright violation as they were not authorised even though they may have been made on the same production line as "genuine" Levi's.

From a game point of view if it says "for sale in USA and Canada only" or "For Sale in Japan only" then any interet import outfit probably is breaking the law. Sony managed to get Link-San.com closed down for exactly that reason, selling non EU products into the EU market (Specifically PSP's) , claiming safety issues and trademark, copyright and design right violations, despite the fact they were genuine Sony product just the ones destines for Hong Kong.

That said I can't see you ever being prosecued for owning one...
