Property not listed on VOA site

Hi! I tried to find the flat where I live (owned by the Council, managed by a HA) on the VOA web site but only got this: "No properties could be found for this search." Then looked at other properties on the street and a lot of them came up with the same result but managed to find some bands. Most indeed were lower than the property where I live in (mine's D but most seem to be C or some even B).

However, one property showed six different addresses/flats under one number, some of them twice, and the bands ranged from C - G! Even more curiously, some of the twice mentioned flats had both bands 'deleted' but when I clicked on the history, could see that there were two different bands for the property.

I am pretty sure my flat should be C instead of D. I obviously have no idea of the value of the house in 1991 or even whether it was surveyed then. I don't know the value of the property now either - the area is pretty 'up and coming' but the flat itself, and the whole house, is not well managed and has damp problems etc. Funnily enough though, just last year I got a call from a surveyor who wanted access to my flat on a certain date. As I told him that I could not take that day off work, he said he could do the survey over the phone and would phone me soon. I never spoke to the man since but apparently the survey had been done...

Has anyone got any experience of anything similar? Sorry for the long post, btw.

And thanks to Martin, you are fab!!:money:

    Hi Marj,

Yep, this problem does come up from time to time. My address doesn't show up on the VOA website because they've put it in wrong, even though I've told them. The best thing to do is try all possible variables one at a time (the postcode, street etc) and if it still doesn't come up phone your local VOA office and tell them. They should be able to tell you the band.

You can also use your Council Tax reference from your bill to search on (thanks to CIS for that tip!!)
