  • Thanks everyone for there monivation tips, i like the money pig idea. at the moment i have a sealed pot going so i guess thats pretty simalar.

Save-a-lot i dont get penalties for overpaying they are unlimited so im just going to throw my wage at the morgage and live of the money i earn part time....which shouldnt be hard because ive been paying cc and loan debts for the last 10 years (which are now payed) and been living off very little. so really i wont be any better of or any worse!

working out how much interest you pay each day - what a brilliant (and mortifying) idea!

I've just calculated that in January we paid £13.50 daily in interest, but at least that's better than December when we paid £14.30 every day.

Just what I need to keep me motivated...

  • What works for me is £250 !!!! I decide that i need to make or save £250 and pay that off (but my mortgage allows me to do this without penalty) so i sell on Ebay or other places or if i get any unexpected money i save it until i have £250 and pay that off

A large project is easier to do if split into smaller parts

The other thing that REALLY helped was a hint i saw on tele! I look at the front of my house and visualize how much i own and how much the bank owns and enjoy "watching" the line move across

    Best of luck

Hi - what inspires me to pay off the mortgage is that no-one in my family have paid off their mortgage and parents are still working hard in their late 50's and not much time for themselves.

We'd love to be in our 40's with no mortgage and enjoying our life by the sea, it will be a long way from living down south and 40k in debt as we were a few years ago.

We love the house we're in so it's a long term family home and just want it to be ours!

    Ev x
