Big W (Coatbridge) 50% off
As Big W in Coatbridge is closing (I believe all their stores are closing sooner or later) they've got 50% off everything except entertainment (CD's & Videos/DVD's) and stamps, newspapers and gift vouchers.
Judging by the queues today there wont be much left by Monday never mind the closing date (August 6th I believe). Myself and my Mother spent £50. :T

wow, might have to check that out. Not every store will close some will be converted to woolies.0 -
The ones converting to normal Woolworths already have.
Eg, near the Coatbridge BigW, the BigW behind the Celtic ground changed to normal Woolworths about 4 months ago.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Is it not still a Big W, the one at the Forge (Celtic Park)0

Was there twice on Saturday and saved loads. It was like xmas eve only worse. If what I heard is true, and it won't officially be closing till August, they'll be selling the floor tiles, cos by then, that's all that'll be left. People were using the square cages and pallet trucks they get deliveries in with because the trolleys weren't big enough. Some were getting a bit greedy though. Saw one lady with a trolley so loaded with boxes of washing powder, that she was struggling to push it.
If you're going to make the trip, here's my tip. Pay with cash. They had a couple of cash only tills, and there was hardly anyone using them.0 -
Any idea why they are closing down? The one in Bolton has gone and that was a big surprise to me.0

Nope, it changed to Woolworths in April. Just normal Woolworths junk in there now.Alison_B wrote:Any idea why they are closing down? The one in Bolton has gone and that was a big surprise to me.
Woolworths have dropped the format. Was losing tthem a lot of money.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
I've heard its unlikely there will be anything left by this Saturday, in fact there is very little left just now.
I think Woolies are dropping the format because the value of the sites doesn't justify how little profit is made (many BigWs are loss makers). I heard the Coatbridge BigW made £200k last year, and Tesco have offered £15m for the site.0 -
Tesco are indeed going to make the 200 yard move to the Big W. I understand - which shall be good for us who'd like a Tesco with more room (maybe they'll even make it a Tesco Extra).0
