    Letting it 'stand' does de-chlorinate tap water, but you are partly right, takes longer than I thought. 24 hrs.

    Obviously a joke post - why go to all that trouble when you've already boiled the water twice ;)

    Not a joke post, Fay, just poorly phrased. The idea is to capture any remaining heat in the electric element thus reducing the time when re-heating for the next cuppa.
