loans/accounts for postgraduates

I am hoping to do a masters in September and the only way i can do this is if i can get a Career Development Loan or a similar Professional Studies Loan.
My credit rating is poor so i am worried i will get rejected by both and then i am stuck and wont be able to do the masters.
Is these 2 loans similar to normal loans in that they will check your credit file before accepting you or do they just review what course info you provide and not look at your credit file.
In terms of being able to pay back the loan the info i.e monthly income i will provide them it should be enough but i fear that this will all be ignored based on my credit score:o
Also i'm with Barclays and looking around for graduate accounts and HSBC as i said earlier have a Professional Studies Loan. One of the main things i'm after is a big enough overdraft facility 2000+ hopefully.

  • Yes you will be credit scored.
Sorry if that is not what you wanted to hear.

Its not but it's kinda what i thought:D
I wonder if the actual PG course will add more weight that my credit file i.e i'm doing a course and therefore that add more influence than my credit score in termss of a application .
Also if i already have a offer for a masters can i apply now or have to wait nearer to the course start date. Anyone else applied quite early
  • No your credit rating means more - you are asking them to lend you a substantial amount of money with no guaranteed job for you at the end to enable to to start repaying.
