'Value' loo rolls

This is exactly what I mean. You are saying that to have a nice car on the drive you have to eat beans on toast everyday. Not at all, we eat very well, my huge butt is proof of that

We buy value stuff because the items I buy taste the same as the more expensive brands and I can't see the point of spending more than I have to. Believe me if they were yucky I wouldn't buy them
Do you think theres a connection between cheap bog roll and huge butts, cause mines enormous too?
I buy mostly Asda value stuff, with a few exceptions (can't do without my Lenor). We eat very well and if I bought something that I didn't think was up to scratch I just wouldn't buy it again, no matter how cheap it is.How does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0 -

im not generalising everyone, im sure plenty of people have nice cars on drive and spend tidy sums on food. ive got a nice car on my drive, ok 5 yrs old, but i like it. and everyones different too, whats good for you may not be for me. all im saying is that my neighbour seems to spend a huge amount of money on not just cars, a 10k conservatory, kitchen, bathroom etc.... none of my business granted, and probably added to their mortgage anyway, but then buy loads of value stuff, not just bog roll. sent her daughter to school after half term with ill fitted shoes, asda shoes, which had blistered her ankles, told to 'shut up you wuss'!!. has that now put it in perspective.0 -
Spot on, just because you can afford more expensive stuff doesn't mean you want it! For lots of products the Value range is about as good as (or better than) the more expensive stuff. There are also products where the Finest is far better than the others and not much more expensive. You've just got to find which is the best deal for you. I'm amazed though that on a website about saving money there are people snobby enough to put their neighbours down because they buy the products in blue and red boxes. We buy alot of Tesco blue/white stripey things and I'm always getting comments from certain family members like "You don't have to buy the crap stuff...you can afford nice stuff"
Incidentally I don't buy value loo roll, as the cleaning company for our office deliver far more than we need each month, so our boss lets us take the excess home...0 -

im not snobby and wasnt putting anyone down. my neighbours actually are quite snobby, and 'brag' they are getting this and that, how much money they get p/m etc. as ive said in previous posts, im knocking nothing, i havent actually bought value loo roll, as the pack is much smaller, and when my hub can visit loo 5 times a day, a oll wouldnt last 5 mins. i do have to budget what i spend, and i couldnt afford to keep changing the car, get people in do do diy stuff etc and if i could afford to actually probably wouldnt anyway.0 -
I'd rather use the local free newspaper than cheap loo roll.
New word for you...THUFF
Definition>>> the sound made by your finger going through the cheap bog roll!
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -

..... think then of how much extra 'value' handwash you need to double cleans hands:rotfl:0 -

The bit I have underlined got me again. So what she spends a huge amount on cars and fixtures and fittings for her house? Too right its none of your business! How can you assume its added to their mortgage maybe they got an interest free deal? Maybe your neighbour is like us and saves hard to buy things?
As said before, maybe they buy value items because they like them, not because they have to fund an expensive lifestyle!
Ok you got me on the kids shoes thing
Maybe the kid had shoes indoors that she wouldn't wear?
I don't know, but I don't agree with assuming the worst of everyone, especially when it has nothing to do with anyone else how and what they spend their money on. None of us know what goes on in peoples lives behind closed doors.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
I personally don't like the value loo rolls, as they are so thin and i end up needing more to wipe my bum..i go for middle range which is a bit thicker but not too expensive. I buy mine from Home Bargains, couple of quid for about 18 rolls.
I buy other value things though, as i like them. I will try most value things to see what they are like, if i like them and its saving me money ill keep buying them. But loo rolls didnt work for me sadly.

I moved onto buying Value loo rolls when I stopped nicking the instituational sized rolls from college! I would rather spend money on anything other than loo roll. When I'm at a relatives and they have posh paper, it feels really extravagant.
