'Value' loo rolls

hi all,
are these any good??
seen asda do a pack of 12 smartprice ones for 1.12. i gave them a squeeze and as there wasnt much on the roll and seemed a lot smaller i didnt bother and stuck to the normal own brand.
only reason i ask is my neighbour has these, she has 3 kids i just cant see how you save. but she drives a nearly new car, and has just spent £3k getting her garden paved, and was a bit shocked that she buys this, as i wouldnt have thought she would 'have to' or maybe this is why i havent any money as i waste it on normal price loo roll.

I don't like value loo roll ... it's very rough lol and I find you use loads. Can't see how you save much money with it but I suppose it's horses for courses. I tend to stock up on the 'nicer' stuff when it's on BOGOF, it's one of my few luxuries.

i think its fine. some people say its a false economy as you use more but i disagree, i dont think you use that much more and it is quite a big price difference.
i would rather cut back on something i wipe my bum with than something i feed my family!
for example, if you swap your usual loo roll for value you could get a free range chicken instead of a normal one or decent mince instead of value mince.

kids waste a lot of loo roll (wrapping around thier hands like an oven mitt before wiping etc)
thats a lot of waste with 3 kids, its probably cost effective for her?

Personally I go for middle of the range unless Andrex is on offer:D

hi again,
ive also 3 children and couldnt see the point in value loo roll in my family, hubby has crohns and ive IBS so we go through a roll a day ish. the point is that my neighbours brag how much they earn, and buy a lot of smartprice stuff, not just loo roll, kids only ever eat pizza fingers and smilie faces, she cant cook anything at all, and she smokes. beans on toast would be better! im not knocking value stuff, im on a v.tight budget, but i try to get as best i can with what i have.

I bought the asda value stuff for the 1st time recently, in fact I'm switching to asda instead of Morrisons because M is now expensive - their prices are rising weekly it seems and they no longer have the good bogofs.
Anyway, to the loo roll ,we used to use one/one and a half of the supermarket "luxury" rolls a week at a cost of around 75p a week, the asda stuff is down to 6 rolls, so we have used 6 rolls in 3 weeks, so less than 20p per week. It is also fully recycled paper, which the "better" paper never is.
My daughter did ask me if I'd stolen the paper from work though, she says it's like school loo paper:rotfl: .

i know my neighbour doesnt buy it because its recycled as she never recycles anything!!! i think i would probably use 2 a day as im home all day with 2 children. i guess i could save in the long run perhaps. her hub commented once that he goes to the loo when he gets to work to save the loo roll. but surely when you gotta go you gotta go!!
