Hi there everyone.
I'm hoping someone can advise me, A few weeks ago I bought a cream fluffy rug from Argos- looks great but its moulting everywhere!
I have told OH not to walk on it as the fluff may be sticking to socks etc, but he says whats the point of having a rug if you can't walk on it (kinda see his point).
It just seems like the fluff is everywhere, like really thin cotton wool.
This may sound daft but do you think spraying it with hairspray will stop it moulting??!
Thanks in advance

If it is one of the wool flokati rugs.. they NEVER stop moulting.. we've had one down for nearly 3 years and it is still shedding!!!!
IF it isn't then probably it will stop after several vacuumings and a bit of use.. it will just be the loose fibres separating themselves.
If it is totally unbearable take it back and complain about it shedding.
I can't see hair spray doing anything other than making the bits sticky!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I had a cream fluffy rug, and after a couple of months i got rid of it as it wouldnt stop moulting. Everywhere in my house there was a thin layer of fluff that had settled from the rug. As much as I hoovered it, the fluff still got everywhere. :mad:0

they're impossible to hoover as well. Although that may well be the rubbish hoover.
6ft by 8ft. That's big! What do you do then - hoover constantly?Compulsive Spendaholic #150 -
We have 1 of these but from Ikea. It was driving me absolutely potty constantly hoovering up after it & in the end we dragged it into our bedroom because it doesnt get walked on so much & hasn't gone completely to waste. I did have visions of choking on fluff bits all night though lol but I've not had it happen at all (yet)
Hope you came to a decision about it.
Hugs
HelenWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

I had one of the Flokati rugs from Next about two years ago and it settled down after I took it to the laundrette and washed and dried it there. Ironically I only took it there because the cat decided to pee on it and it needed a wash after being on the floor for a year or so. I also combed it through with a cat brush to remove the looser fibres. It pulled out enough fibres to fill a small cushion but was a good idea.
It only sheds a teeny bit now and looks lovely!
